WESTFIELDS fell to a cruel injury-time winner as in-form Quorn won 2-1 at allpay.park in the Midland Alliance.

The Hereford side looked to have done enough to secure a valuable point from an action-packed, end-to-end game.

Quorn stole the winner when ex-Kidderminster midfielder Robert Betts swooped.

The game was a battle littered with free-kicks and both sides lost a man following an 80th-minute clash between Westfields' Dave Howes and Quorn's Jermaine Gordon.

After a goalless first-half the game sprang to life when, in the 46th minute, Westfields' defence let in a sloppy goal.

They failed to clear a free-kick and Stuart Hamilton riffled the ball high into the net.

Jon Pugh made a flying save to deny Gordon before Westfields found their feet against well-organised opposition.

After Jamie Cuss and Chris Jefferson had good half-chances, Westfields pulled level in the 78th minute when Alex Hunt side-footed in Terry Green's cross from 10 yards.

Westfields increased the tempo but lost Howes and later gave away a needless free-kick 30 yards out.

The ball was only cleared to the edge of the area where Betts smashed it into the net.

Meanwhile, Bromyard Town played excellent football but were undone by Shifnal Town's great finishing in a 6-1 West Midlands League Premier Division home defeat.

The home team went 1-0 up in the fifth minute when Aaron Drake's cross was tapped home at the near post by Ted Baylis for his first goal since returning to the club.

Bromyard dominated until the 30th minute when league leaders Shifnal bagged a penalty.

They added two good finishes to lead 3-1 at the interval and a glancing header made it four within a minute of the second period.

The Herefordshire outfit still passed well on a difficult surface but conceded two more goals while chasing the game.

New signing Mark Taylor came on as a substitute for a good Bromyard debut.

Pegasus Juniors produced a stirring display to draw 2-2 at Thame United in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

They were minutes away from gaining their first victory on the road but let two points slip again.

Pegasus should have sealed the game by half-time but an inability to finish cost them.

Anthony Robbins had an early shot cleared off the line and Simon Gwynne was denied by 'keeper Paul Searl.

Paul Brown gave Pegasus the lead on 17 minutes with a header from Ben Price's corner.

Dave Griffiths missed a good chance for a second and Thame levelled on half-time through Nick Gibson.

With 10 minutes remaining, Robbins, Griffiths and Leigh Harris combined to provide Price with the second goal.

Robbins hit the post with a free-kick but Paul Redding scrambled Thame's last-gasp leveller.
