WORCESTER Wolves star Zaire Taylor is hoping his prolific form continues so he can raise money for charity.

The American point guard has vowed to donate a pound for every point he scores during November to the Movember campaign, which aims to promote awareness of male cancers.

As part of the initiative, he will also join thousands of men across the country by growing moustaches during the month.

Taylor, who is averaging around 20 points per game so far this term, has also enlisted Wolves team-mates Jamal Williams and Andres Schreiber to grow their facial hair for the cause.

Last month, Taylor wore pink boots during games to help promote Breast Cancer Awareness.

He said: “I feel like, as pro athletes, you have a voice that is heard sometimes more than others and I feel we often use it to toot our own horn or do a lot of things that aren’t really going to make a lot of difference.

“So when you get the opportuntiy to do it, it’s always a positive thing.

“I am donating a pound for every point I score and I am trying to get people to match me. If I had the means to donate more, I would but I don’t. It would be good to get people to pledge a pound for every basket I score as well or maybe just make a donation.”

As well as Wolves colleagues, Taylor’s fund-raising plan has attracted interest from his friend and fellow basketball professional Kim English, who plays in Italy.

Taylor added: “He saw my Facebook post and he’s donating a Euro for every point I score and five Euros for every steal I get.

“I hope the snowball will roll a little bigger but I feel like it’s already started and it’s going to be something really good.”

Links to make donations are due to be added to his website ztaylor11.com shortly.
