MANAGER Steve Burr will not be in charge of Kidderminster Harriers at Barnet tomorrow after being allowed to speak to managerless Forest Green Rovers.
His assistant Gary Whild is in temporary control of second-placed Harriers for their Skrill Premier clash with former Dutch international Edgar Davids’ side.
Burr wants the chance to talk with the big-spending Gloucestershire outfit who parted company with Dave Hockaday by mutual consent on October 21 after a dismal start to their title chase.
The 16th-placed Nailsworth club host Dartford today and their multi-millionaire chairman Dale Vince, a green energy tycoon, will hope to tempt Burr away from Aggborough.
The 50-year-old took over at Harriers in January 2010 and led them to the Conference Premier play-off semi-finals last season, missing out on the title on the last day after two sixth-placed finishes.
Burr’s contract runs until the summer of 2016 so Kidderminster chairman Mark Serrell will want compensation if his manager chooses to leave.
A club statement said: “Kidderminster Harriers can confirm they have received a formal approach from Forest Green Rovers, through the correct channels, for permission to speak to manager Steve Burr about their managerial vacancy.
“Steve has been kept fully aware of the situation at all times and has expressed an interest in meeting with Rovers’ officials to discuss the post and, as such, the club have reluctantly granted him permission to do so.”
