A VISION for the future of Worcester City is set to be presented to fans at an important meeting next week.

The club’s supporters’ trust will unveil their final proposal for a new stadium at Perdiswell on Thursday at Tudor Grange Academy in Bilford Road.

They will also announce plans to change the century-old constitution of the Blue and Whites to a club owned by the fans.

Supporters are being urged to attend the meeting, which starts at 7.15pm, and also play their part in the future of the club.

A trust spokesman said: “Our message is simple, if you want a football club you need to do something to help us. Please attend the meeting.

“Please do not leave it to other people, you have an extremely important role to play.

“The time for people to walk past like they did five years ago has gone. If anyone has got an interest in the club they need to turn up.”

He added: “A small group of supporters’ trust members have worked tirelessly over the past year putting a plan together and meeting various potential partners and other bodies to be in a position of where we are today.”

The organisation first announced plans for a 4,100-capacity ground, including a 500-seater stand, back in January and are poised to submit the application to Worcester City Council following Thursday’s meeting.

Designs for the Perdiswell project also feature a 3G all-weather floodlit surface as well as the maintenance of existing pitches. Once in the hands of the council, a decision on the prospoal is expected within the authority’s 13-week time frame.

“We are very confident that our plans will get through the planning stage but your help is needed to give us that extra push,” the spokesman added.

Supporters will also be told of the trust’s aim to make City a fans-owned club by proposing a change to the constitution to allow the group and its members to own 51 per cent of the shares.

The spokesman said: “Currently, nobody is allowed to have more than one per cent.

“Supporters-owned clubs are eligible for a lot more grants and funding.

“It opens up all sorts of doors. The first thing we will do is ask the fans to see if they want to do it.

“If they say yes we will go back to the club’s board with the proposal and then we will have to go to an AGM for the shareholders to vote on it.”

The meeting, which takes place in the academy’s theatre via the main reception, is for trust members only but people can join on the night for £1.
