GRAHAM Turner is confident Hereford United can still have a say in the Coca-Cola League Two promotion shake-up come the end of the season.

The Bulls, who are due to visit Shrewsbury tomorrow, are currently 12th in the table and only three points behind the last play-off position.

Despite only losing once in their last 10 games, including reaching the FA Cup third round, Turner has not been impressed with recent performances.

But he believes the players are still capable of finishing in the top seven.

He said: "One defeat in 10 matches is, by most standards, a decent run of results.

"It shows a degree of consistency but we can also say that we have only taken three points out of the last 12 in the league and that, by most standards, is not good enough.

"On most occasions in that 10-match run, the performances have been of a decent standard with one or two excellent results such as the wins at MK Dons and Swindon."

But the manager added: "Saturday's performance against Torquay was our poorest for a while.

"The decision has to be made whether we change the side and the system radically, tinker with it or have the confidence to believe that it will be all right on the day and there is no need to change anything.

"We have some crucial games coming up and the level of performance from individuals against Torquay, in some cases, was disappointing.

"Whether we change the system or not, it is still the players' responsibility to perform at the level we expect of them.

"Being where we are in the league, we still look upwards with aspirations of making the play-offs but we are not so naive that we don't look over our shoulders."
