BLESSED Edward Oldcorne Catholic College has gained a grant of £5,500 from Awards for All lottery fund.
The money will help develop girls' basketball at the school, paying for new kit, balls, indoor and outdoor hoops, an electronic score unit and coaching sessions from Worcester Wolves players.
Paul Coward, area leader for physical education, said: "We are delighted to have received this award, which will help to increase the number of girls participating in basketball.
"It will also have a positive effect on our already thriving boys' basketball programme.
"The pupils will enjoy using the new equipment and will benefit from the coaching expertise of Wolves players like Andy Harper, who will begin coaching after-school sessions in January.
"The addition of extra outdoor hoops will enable more pupils to play basketball at break times and lunchtimes."
