TABLE-topping Worcester Wolves are aiming for another packed house against Plymouth Raiders to showcase the new University Arena to a television audience.

Tomorrow’s British Basketball League match, which tips off at 7.30pm, has been selected as the first feature match on British Eurosport.

The broadcaster is showing a weekly highlights package of the competition and the Wolves clash tops the bill when the inaugural programme is aired at noon on Saturday, November 9.

With games having already attracted large crowds, including 1,700 for the visit of Leicester Riders, officials are hoping for another four-figure turn-out against the Raiders.

Wolves have won six out of six in the British Basketball League.

Chairman Roger Clarke said: “We are delighted that we have been selected to host the first featured game on British Eurosport.

“We really hope that this sort of exposure will promote both the club, the arena and the city as an exciting sporting hotbed.

“The Worcester public have been brilliant so far and have made a real difference to the coach and the team.

“We were always worried that we may struggle to create a ‘Wolves den’ with lots of atmosphere, but all fears have been dispelled.”

Wolves have received praise for their match-night experience, which includes cheerleaders, mascot Wolfie and local acts performing during the half-time break.

Fans are also being urged to secure their seats in advance by buying online to avoid congestion on the evening.

Admission is £13 for adults and £7 concessions and the links can be found at worcesterwolves.org Clarke continued: “It was always our aim to bring first-class basketball to Worcester and, while the current team and facilities are excellent, the most exciting thing has been the public’s response.”
