“THIS tie is far from over,” was manager Carl Heeley’s assessment after Worcester City earned an FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay against Lincoln City.

Aaron Williams’ first goal of the season had the Skrill North club heading for the first round proper until Andrew Boyce equalised with 13 minutes left at Aggborough.

The sides will do battle again at Sincil Bank tomorrow (7.45pm), with the winners knowing that a match against League Two Plymouth Argyle awaits following yesterday’s draw live on ITV, as well as £12,500 in prize money.

If City progress, it would mean a rematch of the 1978 first round clash against Argyle which Worcester won 2-0.

Heeley said: “I’m very pleased with the draw.

“We wanted a Football League club and the chance to maybe cause an upset and that will give us an incentive to go to Lincoln and put in another performance like we did on Saturday.

“Whoever gets through out of Lincoln and ourselves will fancy their chances of causing an upset.”

“We’ve got a tough replay to come but if we can go and show that same desire then this tie isn’t dead,” declared the City boss.

“All we said to the boys before the game was to go out there and do themselves justice and we did that and nearly pulled it off.

“We’ve got another tough game tomorrow but we can go there full of confidence and I think Lincoln know they’ve got a tough game to come.

“I think the onus is on Lincoln. They’re a full-time club in the division above, nobody expects us to get through and that’s still the same in the replay.

“They’re at home and we’re not easy to beat so game on.”

Heeley added: “I think possession-wise Lincoln just shaded it and we had to defend long throw-ins and set-pieces but, that said, we always looked a big threat on the counter-attack.

“We knew they’d be a major threat at set-pieces and that proved to be the way we conceded but I thought we defended magnificently as a team.

“We got caught with one but we’ve done ourselves proud and I couldn’t have asked for any more from that group of lads. They gave everything they’ve got and I’m proud of every one of them.

“There wasn’t much in the game, I thought we acquitted ourselves incredibly well and I have no doubts we will do the same again.”
