ROYAL Grammar School Worcester claimed the city’s rugby bragging rights by beating local rivals King’s 15-8 to reclaim the Modus Cup at Sixways Stadium.
There was an electric atmosphere throughout at the home of Worcester Warriors as the well-matched sides produced a combative and competitive encounter.
Despite King’s going ahead with an early penalty, RGS remained confident and were unlucky not to capitalise on some of their sharp line-breaks.
The game’s first try was scored by RGS when neat handling from the back line ended with a fine Billy Grant effort from 30 metres out.
King’s maintained pressure on the RGS defence and took the lead in the final play of the first-half when wing Ryan Kerley crossed the whitewash.
After the break, the RGS pack started to dominate and captain and hooker Harry Bee burrowed over from close range to put his side back ahead and they managed to hold on for victory.
n Plaque to honour former RGS headmaster: P8.
