WORCESTER City are determined to continue their FA Cup adventure with victory over Lincoln City at Aggborough tomorrow (3pm).

The Blue and Whites are 90 minutes away from possibly reaching the first round proper and being joined in the hat by teams from League One and Two.

It has been eight years since City last advanced beyond the fourth qualifying round, when they made it to the second round before losing to Huddersfield Town live on the BBC.

Victories over Coventry Sphinx and Rugby Town have set up the showdown against the Skrill Premier Imps, which also carries a reward of £12,500.

Following the agonising final-minute 1-0 defeat to 10-man Bromley at the same stage last season, City are even more intent on causing an upset.

Manager Carl Heeley said: “We have made it to the final qualifying round for the second year in succession with less resources so that’s got to be seen as success.

“But now we are there it’s an opportunity to challenge ourselves against a full-time club from the division above us and see if we can pull off a shock.

“Last season was tough to take because I felt we were the better side for long periods of the game and we got caught on the counter attack with the last kick.

“It was heart-breaking but that’s in the past and hopefully the lads who played in it will remember it and try to make amends this time around.”

He added: “We want to get through to the first round proper and continue our cup run. I have experienced cup runs and had some good times in football as a player and a lot of our lads haven’t experienced playing in the competition proper.

“I want them to get through because it’s a brilliant experience and they are good games to play.”

While Lincoln are 13th in non-league’s top-flight, City, who have dropped into the Skrill North bottom three following Guiseley’s Tuesday win against North Ferriby United, will point to three successive clean sheets, and six in their last seven matches.

They could be without Richard Munday because of a hamstring injury sustained at Oxford City but fellow central defender Shabir Khan is fit again following a hernia problem and Sam Smith, who has been on loan at Stourport Swifts, is also available.

However, a decision on whether on-loan midfielder Phil Trainer will be given permission to play by Nuneaton has yet to be made.
