STOURPORT Swifts are hoping for better luck with the weather when they host Aylesbury United on Saturday (3pm).

Phil Mullen's side were due to play Brackley at Walshes Meadow on Tuesday night but a waterlogged pitch forced the game to be called off.

Mullen, whose side lost 1-0 at Rothwell Town last Saturday, even cancelled a training session to save his players having to negotiate the floods.

Swifts chairman Chris Reynolds feels Saturday's game should go ahead and Mullen said: "I think the forecast is OK so we will wait and see."

The club, though, has received a boost ahead of tomorrow's Southern League Division One Midlands match against Aylesbury, aptly nicknamed the Ducks.

Swifts have signed former Kidderminster Harriers favourite Chris Brindley to bolster their attacking options with Richard Burgess (back) and Dean Curtis out injured.

The 37-year-old defender-turned-striker had been training and turning out occasionally for Premier Division side Halesowen Town.

Boss Mullen said: "He'll do a job for us up front and add a bit of presence. We've got some tough games coming up and he can help us.

"He's been playing and training at Halesowen Town, he hasn't played too often but he's got a few goals for them.

"At his age, he's not going to be running all over the park, but defenders will certainly know that he's there."

Aylesbury, who lost 2-1 at Malvern earlier this month, go into the match on the back of a 3-1 victory over Spalding.

Swifts have also had to cancel next Tuesday's league fixture against Woodford United.

The Northamptonshire side are involved in an Errea Cup second round match.
