PERSHORE Town manager Neil Hunt says victory is vital at Brereton Social on Saturday (3pm).
Town, who lost 2-1 to Barnt Green Spartak in the Worcestershire Senior Urn on Wednesday, are still eight points adrift at the bottom of the Midland Combination Premier Division.
But Brereton are only three places above Pershore in the league table and Hunt knows his side need to win the close the gap.
He said: "I left two or three players out on Wednesday because we need to start picking up points and tomorrow is more important.
"They are only three places above us so three points is a must."
Hunt also said the Spartak defeat showed how far the team has come of late.
He said: "It probably wasn't a fair result. We played really well and created a lot of chances but things are looking up.
"It was the same Spartak side that beat the club 8-0 on September 20 so the club has turned the corner.
"We are not having that little bit of luck."
Spartak went 2-0 up inside 20 minutes, including one from a deflection, at Bromsgrove Rovers' Victoria Ground.
Dean Roberts pulled a goal back from Gary Smith's free-kick.
