WORCESTER Wolves are out to maintain their position at the top of the British Basketball League with victory over Birmingham Knights tomorrow (3pm).
Paul James’ side have won their first four championship fixtures this season and have a fifth in their sights at the North Solihull Sports Centre.
Knights are yet to win a match in three attempts in their first season in the competition but they ran Sheffield Sharks close last Saturday, losing 102-95 with Brent Benson scoring a mammoth 45 points.
Both teams were in BBL Cup action last night, with Wolves hosting Manchester Giants and Birmingham taking on Plymouth Raiders.
Wolves chief James said: “Birmingham have shown that they’re going to be competitive, they pushed Sheffield Sharks all the way last weekend. Paul Douglas is a good coach and will have his team more than prepared for the game.
“We will be making sure we shut them down and that our defence is on point first and foremost. We want to make sure we finish the weekend top of the league still.”
He added: “It’s great to have somebody as close as Birmingham so we can have a bit of a rivalry going because at the moment it just tends to be Leicester.”
