RIGHT-back George Williams believes Worcester City will be too strong for Rugby Town when the sides meet in tomorrow night’s FA Cup replay.
Saturday’s third qualifying round tie ended in a stalemate at Aggborough with neither side able to seize the initiative.
It has meant a second bite of the cherry at the Southern League Division One Central outfit’s Butlin Road base and both teams will be in the hat for today’s fourth qualifying round draw.
Williams admits Worcester need to be more clinical in front of goal and is confident they will finish the job off.
He said: “We are disappointed that we didn’t get the win but it’s not the end of the world, we’ve got tomorrow to get the win and I’m confident we can go there and get a result.
“We knew they were going to come out flying and they did well in the first 20 minutes but after that we started to get the ball down and created some chances. I think what we lacked was that finishing edge.
“They could have got a couple of goals in the first 20 minutes and we had some real chances towards the end that we should be putting away. We’ve got a chance to rectify that and hopefully we’ll get a win.
“They like to play football but I think we’re a stronger team and I think we’ll go there and really push for a result.
“We’re still in the hat, we didn’t lose so hopefully we’ll get a win and be a step closer to the big teams coming in.”
Saturday’s game was the first time Williams had started a match since hobbling off with an ankle injury at Colwyn Bay a month ago.
“It’s frustrating being out but I’m really happy to be back,” the former Loughborough University player said. “It would have been nicer to get a win but it’s good to be back playing.”
Manager Carl Heeley added: “Willo has been out for a few weeks but he gives us a threat going forward and got into the last third on a number of occasions so he’s done quite well.”
Meanwhile, it is looking increasingly unlikely that the one-month stay of midfielder Phil Trainer will be extended.
Parent club Nuneaton denied permission for him to play in the cup and he is due to return to the Skrill Premier club after tomorrow’s reply.
The City boss said: “Nuneaton have had a few injuries so they wanted to monitor it a bit closer to the end date which is the middle of this week. I don’t anticipate anything changing.”
