EBBY Nelson-Addy is targeting an FA Cup run with Worcester City as the team bid to bounce back from their Stockport no-show.

The Blue and Whites served up their worst performance of the season in crashing to a 4-0 Skrill North defeat at Edgeley Park last Saturday.

But today they switch to the cup and the chance to move a step closer to the first round proper with Rugby Town visiting Aggborough in the third qualifying stage (3pm).

Midfielder Nelson-Addy, who joined from Loughborough University during the summer, knows it is important for the club financially but also in terms of proving last weekend was a one-off.

The 21-year-old, a half-time replacement for Richard Taundry in Greater Manchester, said: “We didn’t start well at Stockport and then we carried that on and couldn’t get going. From there, it was a snowball effect.

“We tried to press more in the second-half but I think the damage was already done by then.

“We have been on a good run, that’s why Saturday was such a shock, but we’ve got to pick ourselves up and go again in the FA Cup.”

Having played in the Midland Alliance last season, three rungs lower down the non-league ladder, Nelson-Addy is still finding his feet at City’s level.

But the former Aston Villa youth team player has not looked out of place in his seven appearances, including three starts.

He has also been aided by fellow former Loughborough colleagues Daniel Nti and George Williams making summer switches to Aggborough.

“It helps you settle in quicker and all the lads are great so it was easy to gel with them,” Nelson-Addy said.

“I started well and then I got injured so I’m just getting back into it but hopefully I can pick up now and get a few starts and start showing what I can do.

“It’s definitely a step-up and I have to get used to a different style of football but I think the team and I will come good.”
