AN Eckington man has called on villagers to show support for their cricket team at a meeting tomorrow night as the battle to save the club gets under way.
Eckington president John Griffin, along with the rescue committee and players, are holding an emergency meeting in The Anchor pub at 8.30pm in a bid to stop the club folding.
The main problem is the lack of players willing to turn out for the team, a situation that led to a 20-point deduction last season and ultimately relegation to the bottom tier of the Cotswold Hills League.
Anyone who can help is asked to call Griffin on 01386-750703 or Nigel White on 01386-750410.
