EVESHAM United host Market Drayton Town in the FA Trophy preliminary round tomorrow (3pm) hoping to embark on a run in non-league’s premier knock-out competition.
The Robins want to cash in with £2,500 on the line for the winners as well as a home tie against Leek Town. Evesham lost 3-0 to Stourbridge in the FA Cup first qualifying round last month and want to make amends at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium.
Chairman Jim Cockerton said: “We wanted to have a good run in the FA Cup but the next best thing is the FA Trophy.
“If we win this, we have got another home tie against Leek so it’s very important to us. It was disappointing to go out to Stourbridge but they are our bogey side.”
Market Drayton are fifth-from-bottom in Northern Premier League Division One South, the same level as Evesham, with two wins from 10 games.
Shaun Cunnington’s Evesham side sit 19th in Southern League Division One South and West after one victory from eight fixtures.
