ZAIRE Taylor believes himself and Worcester Wolves team-mate Alex Owumi are the best back-court pairing in the British Basketball League.
The 27-year-old American point-guard was a key addition for Wolves during the summer, replacing crowd favourite Sherrad Prezzie-Blue.
He scored 29 points on his debut in last Saturday’s 117-60 thrashing of Surrey United, which earned him a spot in the competition’s team of the week, and tomorrow faces former employers and defending champions Leicester Riders at the University Arena (7.30pm).
Taylor said: “I saw a lot of potential here, I looked at the style of Prezzie-Blue played last year and Alex Owumi and they were really free.
“They could play their game and the coach wanted them to be themselves.
“I feel that it will soon be proven that myself and Alex if you put us together we’re clearly, hands down, the best back court tandem in the league.”
He added: “I want to be the best and I know this team does too.
“We want to be champions this year so to do that we’ve got to go through Leicester.
“To get an early test like this is great.
“That’s the standard and in order to be the best you’ve got to beat the best.”
