MEET Gary Ballard and Dave Wooldridge, the double act set to bring a bit of razzmatazz to Worcester Wolves.
The pair have been unveiled as the new commentator and master of ceremonies for the British Basketball League club on match nights at the University Arena.
Radio host Wooldridge, 21, will be warming the crowd up before Wolves take to the floor, while 30-year-old Ballard, a DJ at Worcester’s Tramps nightclub, will be providing the music and keeping fans informed as the action unfolds.
“I’m really excited to have the opportunity, especially in this massive arena, it’s almost like a big stage to perform on,” said Wooldridge.
“I have done bits for Free Radio, Youthcomm and Radio One so this is right up my street. I will be getting the crowd going, making sure everyone’s having a good time and introducing all the players — making it more of an event than just a game and making sure everyone leaves with a massive smile on their face.”
“I’m going to be doing the music before, during and after shows,” added Ballard, a keen basketball player and fan. “It’s a brilliant opportunity and I’m really excited about it, especially in this amazing arena.”
Both found out about the voluntary roles through a story in the Worcester News.
