FORMER Worcester fly-half Andy Goode will line up against his old team-mates for new club Wasps this weekend, but Dean Ryan insists he won’t be singled out for special attention.

Ex-England outside-half Goode was keen to finish his career at Sixways and possibly move into a coaching role with the club, before axed head coach Richard Hill decided not to give him a new contract.

Despite the fact Goode is now 33, half-a-dozen Aviva Premiership clubs were scrambling over his signature and he finally decided to join Wasps, where he has been a key figure so far this term.

“I’ve not really given too much thought to the fact Andy will be playing for Wasps this weekend,” admitted Ryan.

“I know Andy through various elements of the media and he has been a good player for a long time. Good players are hard to find, but I’ve not had a working relationship with him since I had him in the England under 20s.

“He was a pretty talented lad back then and he still is now — probably one of the best game-managers around and he can still play that flat ball across the front.”

Ryan added: “What the issues were or what he wanted here, I don’t know — it’s not for me to look back and I’m happy with my two 10s.

“I’ve worked with Andy before and he was always someone who is challenging to work with — I think that’s fair to say — but I think most bright players are and I don’t have a problem with that.

“But he’s moved on now and he’ll be a danger against us because his field position kicking is second to none and he’s a decent attacker when he puts his mind to it.”
