EVESHAM United face FA Cup bogey side Stourbridge tomorrow (3pm) hoping to make it third time lucky in the competition.

The Glassboys ended United’s interest in the prestigious event in two of the last four seasons but the Robins will be out to end that run at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium.

It has been a poor start to the season for Shaun Cunnington’s team who are yet to win after five Calor Southern League Division One South and West fixtures.

But Cunnington, whose side beat Midland Combination outfit Bolehall Swifts 2-1 to earn the tie, has been buoyed by some of the displays.

He cannot wait for the first qualifying round clash against Premier Division opposition which carries a £3,000 prize.

Cunnington said: “It will be a very tough test but one that everyone is relishing and talking about at the club.

“The cup springs up all sorts of upsets and hopefully we can do that. It can also set clubs up in terms of finances.

“We haven’t had the best of starts in terms of results but, barring the Wimborne game (lost 6-0), performances have been OK.

“Defensively, we have been undone but there are encouraging signs going forward.”

Midfielder Neil Barnfield completes a three-game ban for a red card.
