FORMER Worcester players fly-half Alice Richardson and centre Joanne Watmore have been left out of the England Women’s Elite Playing Squad (EPS) due to behavioural issues, the Rugby Football Union has confirmed.
Watmore, a dual-code international who can play at centre or full-back, and stand-off Richardson both play club rugby for Richmond and are expected to play significant roles at next year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup.
A statement released by the RFU said: “Alice Richardson and Joanne Watmore have been omitted from the England Women’s Elite Playing Squad (EPS) after failing to adhere to and demonstrate the behaviours expected of them in the 2012/13 season, and to which they commit to as members of the EPS.
“Going forward, to be reconsidered for selection both players must play Premiership rugby this coming season, and must demonstrate the high performance standards expected of them as part of the RFU’s Code of Conduct.
“The individuals will be monitored throughout the season.”
