WORCESTER City have strengthened their squad with the double capture of defender Exodus Geohaghon and midfielder Nathan Rooney.

After assessing the squad over the first five winless games of the Skrill North season, manager Carl Heeley and his assistant Matt Gardiner felt signing both players would add qualities that had been missing.

Giant 28-year-old centre-half Geohaghon, standing at 6ft 5ins, can count a number of Midlands teams on his CV prior to getting a move into League football when Peterborough United signed him in 2009.

Loan spells followed at Rotherham United, Shrewsbury Town and Port Vale before rejoining the non-League game in 2012 with City’s landlords Kidderminster Harriers and latterly Mansfield Town.

He was part of the Stags’ 2013 Conference Premier title-winning squad and an FA Cup run that finally ended at the hands of Prem-ier League Liverpool.

As well as his short spell at Kidderminster, Geohaghon also played in the county for Bromsgrove and Redditch United.

Joining him at Worcester is former Wolverhampton Wanderers reserve team captain Rooney.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been training with City for the past couple of weeks after his release from league rivals Telford.

A City spokesman said: “During that time, Nathan has shown the capabilities we feel will strengthen the squad and we can provide a base for the player to showcase his undoubted talent.”

The duo go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game with Bradford Park Avenue at fourth-from-bottom City’s temporary Aggborough home (3pm).
