PROMISING play and missed opportunities — that’s the story of Worcester City’s season so far.

In the first five games of their Skrill North campaign, the Aggborough tenants have hinted at their potential but only have two points to show for their efforts.

But, as they prepare to host Bradford Park Avenue tomorrow (3pm), manager Carl Heeley says it is time for that to change.

He believes his side’s performances are worthy of better than the 19th place they currently occupy in the table as the September fixtures get under way.

With Bradford also yet to register a victory, there is plenty at stake for both teams.

“We have got to start turning the performances into points and wins but the displays have been quite positive,” Heeley said. “We know we have had a tough start if you look at the early league table but I think our points return should have been more.

“We have to turn those should have points into actual points and I am sure it will come.

“We know why we didn’t win the Altrincham game with their extra quality off the bench but the Hednesford game should have been dead and buried early on.

“We didn’t take our chances and that was crucial to the end result.”

The City boss added: “I am sure Bradford will be disappointed with their start but the focus has to be on us and we approach every game trying to get three points. That will be the same tomorrow.”

As well as being without Richard Munday (hamstring), fellow centre-half Graham Hutchison could also be ruled out because of a broken nose and Shabir Khan is suspended.

Munday and Hutchison were hurt in last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Boston, leaving Ashley Walker as the only recognised central defender to complete the game.

Winger Luke Hubbins is struggling with a knee problem, making him a doubt for the visit of John Deacey’s men.

Among those in the frame to come in should Hubbins miss out are Ashley Sammons and Danny Williams, who both appeared as substitutes against Boston, as well as Ethan Moore.

In last season’s meetings between the teams, Worcester recorded a 2-0 win at St George’s Lane in December after letting a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 at the Horsfall Stadium on the opening day.
