LOSING games is not something Kidderminster Harriers have been used to in 2013.

Until the 3-1 defeat at Alfreton on August 13, Steve Burr’s side had only been beaten five times in the league since the turn of the year.

So to have lost two on the spin — something they have only done once in the last 12 months during April’s play-off semi-final defeat to Wrexham — is unfamiliar territory.

But, following the 2-1 reverse at Nuneaton and last Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Luton at Aggborough, that is the situation Harriers find themselves in.

Tomorrow, they head to Welling United (3pm) intent on making sure that does not become three in a row. Burr, however, says the players are determined to get back to winning ways at Park View Road.

He has also signed striker Amari Morgan-Smith on a short-term contract.

The 24-year-old, a free agent after being released by Macclesfield, played five games on loan at Aggborough last season, scoring once.

Burr said: “Players are naturally disappointed after losing a game like that but they’ve worked hard in training and are champing at the bit for tomorrow.

“Unfortunately, collectively we did not play well enough and, while Luton are well-organised and have some experienced players, we didn’t play like we normally do.

Harriers also have several injury concerns ahead of the south London trip.

Midfielder Callum Gittings hurt his ankle against Luton and had to be helped from the pitch.

Central defensive pair Josh Gowling and Chey Dunkley have knee injuries as does winger Marvin Johnson, while young striker Joe Lolley has picked up a knock.

Midfielders Jack Byrne and Jamie Tolley have Achilles problems.

Burr added: “We’ll see how the players are and hopefully a few of the problems will have cleared up.”

Last season’s Conference South champions Welling already have two wins but lost 2-1 at Hereford last weekend.
