DIRECTOR of cricket Steve Rhodes has revealed Gareth Andrew’s back injury is still giving Worcestershire cause for concern.
The 29-year-old all-rounder has not played since suffering a twinge during the YB40 defeat to Kent on August 11 and was left out of the squad for the ongoing LV= County Championship Division Two match at Leicestershire.
County officials have been monitoring the former Somerset man’s progress but Rhodes admits he is still not ready to return.
He explained: “It’s a frustrating one for Gareth and for all of us because the medical team feel he should really be reacting better to the rehab he’s had.
“We are optimistic that the diagnosis is correct, we are just a bit disappointed that the recovery is taking so long. He’s not quite right yet.”
