KIDDERMINSTER Harriers will look to lay down an early marker in the Skrill Premier promotion race when they take on Luton Town tomorrow (3pm).

The sides, both among the favourites to challenge for honours, go head-to-head at Aggborough with Harriers aiming to record their third home victory in a row following 3-1 wins over Gateshead and Chester.

Luton have made a stuttering start, having won just once and drawn three in a row, but Harriers manager Steve Burr still expects them to provide his team with a stern test.

“It’s always a big game against Luton because they are a big scalp for most of the teams in this division and, with the crowd they will bring with them, hopefully it will set it up for a great atmosphere,” he said.

“Their travelling support is not what it’s been because of not having got out of this division but they have had a reasonable start and will be up there again challenging.

“We have started off with two wins at home and hopefully tomorrow it will be a good game.”

Despite being three points better off than John Still’s Hatters, Burr is also demanding better from his players after they shipped two late goals in losing 2-1 at part-time Nuneaton on Monday.

He added: “Forget about things not going for us on the day with really poor decisions because our performance wasn’t up to what it has been. We started off well enough but petered out and that was disappointing.”

Midfielder Lee Fowler has been struggling with an ankle injury but should be fit, while striker Anthony Malbon is expected to be involved following a virus.

Midfielder Jamie Tolley (Achilles) has not played since the opening day win against Gateshead and rem-ains Harriers’ chief injury concern.

Centre-half Chey Dunkley has been called up by England ‘C’ for next month’s friendly in Latvia with left-back Mickey Demetriou on standby.
