WORCESTER City boss Carl Heeley praised the character of his side following their 2-2 draw against Hednesford Town.
Daniel Nti gave City a first-minute lead at Aggborough but they were pegged back by Wayne Riley’s strike and an Elliott Durrell penalty before Nti grabbed the equaliser.
Heeley felt his team should have scored more goals but was also pleased with the way they put missed chances behind them to secure their second point in two games.
He said: “We got ourselves in front very early and I couldn’t believe it when we went in at half-time losing the game but we showed some character in the second-half and got ourselves level.
“If we had been a bit more clinical, certainly in the first 25 minutes, we should have had three or four goals and the game should have been dead and buried. But it wasn’t to be, we didn’t take those chances.
“I think, overall, it was possibly the right result.“ Nti, a summer signing from Loughborough University along with midfielder Ebby Nelson-Addy and right-back George Williams, bagged his first goals for the club in the Skrill North match.
Heeley said: “He’s a good player and I’m really pleased for him as a lad because he’s such a lovely kid and everything about him is likeable.
“When they step up divisions questions will be asked about whether they can cut it but there’s no question that he can.
“The three Loughborough boys have all done very well for us. They’re intelligent, work hard and are a pleasure to have in the squad.”
The Worcester boss also felt his team were denied a first-half penalty for a foul on Nti by Francino Francis.
He said: “It was a foul on Daniel just after he scored and we didn’t get that one but decisions will go for and against you. It was the right decision for their penalty but I think the referee missed one for us.”
