WORCESTER City are hoping striker Daniel Nti will have shaken off a knee problem to be fit for tonight’s Skrill North derby at Gloucester City (7.45).
The summer recruit landed awkwardly during last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Altrincham and was replaced by fellow former Loughborough University player Ebby Nelson-Addy at half-time.
But the injury is not thought to be serious and Nti, who played a key role in Danny Glover’s goal at the weekend, could be in the frame to start at Whaddon Road.
Manager Carl Heeley said: “Hopefully he will be fit and it’s not anything too serious. We’ll just have to see how it settles down.
“He’s jarred his knee so fingers crossed he’ll be OK.
“We missed his endeavour and work-rate, I thought he looked a major threat.”
Winger Luke Hubbins, who played 70 minutes against the Robins, is also expected to continue in the side despite the devout Muslim’s fitness levels being low due to observing Ramadan during pre-season.
However, striker Ethan Moore is again likely to miss out due to the groin strain that ruled him out of the opener at Aggborough.
As well as looking for a first win of the season, Worcester travel to the home of Cheltenham Town seeking a first success at the Tigers’ temporary home following 4-2 and 3-1 defeats and a 1-1 draw in their last three visits.
Gloucester will also be fired up to get off the mark following their 3-1 defeat at newly-promoted North Ferriby United last Saturday.
Tonight’s match is also the first meeting between the sides since full-back Tyler Weir made the move down the M5 to join Dave Mehew’s Tigers from City during the summer.
The Worcester boss said: “It’s a local derby and another tough game.
“But we’ve got to dust ourselves down and build on the positives of Saturday.”
