SO, Evesham have finally won a cricket match.

They say that good things come to those who wait.

Almost two years to the day since their last success in August 2011, the Blind Lane side defeated Shropshire side Quatt by 53 runs in Birmingham League Division Three.

Unfortunately, coming after 15 straight defeats, it wasn’t enough to stop their relegation back to the Worcestershire League, which is now mathematically confirmed.

But it was a win nonetheless so credit where credit’s due. No player likes losing and Evesham’s have had to endure more than their fair share in the past months.

Yet it doesn’t alter the bigger picture of an uncertain future for a club that has dropped like a stone from Division One in two seasons.

Having once been a club Worcestershire CCC chose to lend players to for high quality experience, they have fallen dramatically from grace.

It would seem they have a lot of work to do if they are to return to the Birmingham League.
