MARVIN Johnson wants to make an impact at Kidderminster Harriers this season and has targeted being a regular fixture in the team.

Gateshead visit Aggborough today (3pm) as the Skrill Premier campaign begins in earnest and Johnson hopes to get the nod from manager Steve Burr.

The 23-year-old winger, who join-ed from Romulus in January 2012, netted six goals last term as Harriers ran Mansfield Town all the way in the title race.

His progress was hindered by injuries, including a broken toe, but he has set his sights on hitting double figures in goals in 2013-14.

Johnson said: “Last season I was in and out of the team because of injuries and a few niggles.

“I was having acupuncture on my calf and then I injured my toe so it was frustrating. I want to be playing more this season and if I can do that then there’s no reason why I can’t play well.

“Last season the gaffer told me to be more selfish in front of goal and I went through a spell where I scored a few. But I think if I get a run in the side I can score between 10 and 15 goals.”

Johnson, who agreed a new one-year deal this summer, added: “The fans have been really supportive and there is a special bond between all the lads from last season.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Kyle Sto-rer remains as Harriers captain, with centre-half Josh Gowling his deputy.

Harriers’ home game with Aldershot has been brought forward a day to Friday, September 27, for live television coverage.
