BLACK belts are given out sparingly and most judo clubs only have one or two.
But Kidderminster’s Samurai club have a rarity — three from the same family thanks to the Hancocks.
Older daughters Charis and Millie have been black belts for several years and figured in the England squad but now mother Sue has joined them.
She started judo after Millie and Charis joined Samurai and has run the club’s section for six to eight-year-olds.
Under her guidance, the class has grown and fed the club with promising players. Now, at last, Hancocks senior has her own black belt.
Only one other family in British judo is believed to have three female black belts, the Maslens in Bristol, but the Hancocks will not be tied with them forever because coming up fast is youngest daughter Darcie.
The 11-year-old is a British, British Schools, Scottish Open and Welsh Open champion.
However, Darcie must wait until she is at least 15 before earning a black belt.
