WORCESTER Wolves head coach Paul James is not planning on making wholesale personnel changes as he turns his attentions to next season.
Wolves’ campaign ended in agonising fashion earlier this month when they were edged out 154-151 on aggregate by Surrey Heat in the British Basketball League play-off quarter-finals.
It followed on from a season of mixed fortunes which also saw Worcester finish fifth in the BBL table and reach the semi-finals of the BBL Trophy.
James is keen to retain the bulk of his players ahead of chasing honours in the new Worcester Arena when the 2013-14 season starts in September.
He said: “We are trying to keep a core of the players because I think we’ve almost got the mix right.
“We’ve got to make sure that we recruit the players we want back and any new players fit into the style of play that we want here.
“We want to make sure that we are stronger and more competitive than we were this season.”
However, it has been confirmed that Arnas Kazlauskas will not be returning following the conclusion of his masters degree but could be involved in player recruitment.
The Lithuanian power forward has been at Worcester for two years and has become a crowd favourite.
James said: “Arnas has been a great guy to work with and he’s certainly helped with the students a lot through his experience.
“We will be sad to see him go but he can still stay involved with the club.”
James added: “He can see what we’re trying to achieve here and I think he’s got a part to play in helping us get to where we want to be in the future.”
