TOM Thorley is hoping to remain a Worcester City player next season after his success at the end-of-season awards.
The midfielder was named both supporters’ and players’ player-of-the-year following an impressive campaign in which he has played every minute of every league game.
Thorley has spent three seasons at St George’s Lane and will hold talks with the management during the summer over extending his stay when the club moves to Kidderminster Harriers.
Asked if he would be a Worcester player next term, he said: “I don’t know, I’d like to say so, I love the club and I’ve had a great time.
“There are a few things that need to be ironed out over the summer and I’ll sit down with Carl Heeley and Matt Gardiner and talk to them about the future.
“I’ve played the majority of games over the three seasons and I don’t think I’ve missed a minute in the league this season which is fantastic.
“I’ve loved every minute of the past three years, it’s been fantastic.
“It’s a great club and hopefully over the next couple of years we’ll battle through and there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
“With 4,000 fans turning up on Saturday, there’s a lot of support for the club so it’s about pulling together and moving forward.”
The 23-year-old was also delighted at his double accolade, which he received in front of fans in the Legends Bar following the last-ever match at the Lane.
He polled the most number of votes ahead of full-back Tyler Weir, Rob Elvins and keeper Matt Sargeant.
Thorley said: “I am overwhelmed, especially to get players’ player.
“I think that’s the most prestigious, to be valued over the duration of a season by your peers is really rewarding and I’m chuffed.
“I started off the season really well and although during February and March the team didn’t fulfil our potential, I think overall I’ve done fairly well.
“But I wouldn’t have expected to win so many awards so I’m really happy.”
Left-back Ellis Deeney, who has been out with an ankle injury since March 9, won the young player award, while Elvins was named sponsors’ player by Pinches Transport.
Elsewhere, Rob Crean was named supporter-of-the-year and the clubman honour was given to the Supporters’ Trust in light of their efforts to provide City with a potential new home with proposed plans to build a stadium at Perdiswell.
