WORCESTER Warriors have aborted the plan to switch the majority of their home Aviva Premiership matches to Friday nights next season.

Earlier this month, now-departed managing director Charlie Little revealed the club were looking into the possibility of increasing the number of Friday night games.

However, the issue proved contentious among Worcester supporters, with many in favour of the move as they preferred the atmosphere, while the statistics say the team win more games under floodlights.

A similar number, though, were angered by the plan, saying they would no longer have the chance to support their team due to not being able to get to evening games after work, with others adding it prevented them from bringing children to support Warriors.

Following discussions with supporters, Warriors launched an online survey to contribute to the decision-making process.

Almost 700 season-ticket holders replied to the survey and the response was split down the middle with 350 people saying they preferred Friday matches, compared to 348 who opted for Saturdays.

Having considered the feedback, the club have decided to continue with a policy of having a mix of Friday and Saturday matches and will play no more than six Friday night games at Sixways.

Fixtures are set to be announced in July following the release of Premiership and Championship football fixtures.
