SALES of Worcester City’s £100 season ticket have picked up on the back of the club’s final match at St George’s Lane.
More than 4,000 fans attended last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Chester, which ended 108 years of football for Worcester at the stadium.
The club have reported an increase of supporters buying the season tickets, with the number now “into the hundreds”, although they do not have an exact figure as postal requests are being dealt with.
Uptake had been low in the run-up to the historic fixture but fans are now coming forward to help the club in their exile at Kidderminster Harriers.
City want to sell 1,500 by Friday and company secretary John Jordan said: “It is fair to say that interest is picking up now and I am pretty sure that over the next couple of days people will be coming in to buy them.
“It’s not massive numbers but, in terms of the interest, there is a lot more.
“People are committing to doing it now whereas before they were talking about it. But we are still a long way short of where we want to be.”
The club have set this Friday’s deadline in order to work out next season’s playing budget for manager Carl Heeley.
