FORMER healthcare boss Charles Cameron has been named as the new chief executive officer at Worcester Warriors.

Formerley group finance and business development chief at Oasis Healthcare, which was recently sold, Mr Cameron will take over at Sixways on Monday, May 13.

He said: "As a local person and a keen supporter I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the Warriors.

"From my first visit as a parent at mini rugby, to becoming a regular supporter of the Warriors, I have always appreciated the club's great strengths.

"We have a fantastic and loyal fan base and great facilities and I look forward to working tirelessly with everyone to realise the club's full potential."

Mr Cameron can call on more than 20 years of experience in general management and finance roles.

And Anthony Glossop, chairman of the Warriors board, said an experienced business head was needed to tackle the challenges at the club, which has struggled this season.

"We are very pleased to have recruited Charles as CEO after a comprehensive and wide-ranging search," he said.

"A club such as Worcester faces many challenges in creating a sustainable business model and a higher position in the league and we need an experienced business leader in the CEO role."

A revamp of the club's management is currently underway after head coach Richard Hill left the club, to be replaced by former Gloucester boss Dean Ryan, at the end of the season.

The departure of former chief executive, Charlie Little, was announced last week.
