THE majority of Hereford United’s squad face uncertain futures due to the club’s financial situation.

Only three players have been offered contracts at Edgar Street next term amid a lack of funds available to manager Martin Foyle.

Striker Ryan Bowman, midfielder Sam Clucas and winger Marley Watkins have deals on the table as they are under 24 and United could claim compensation should they sign for a different club.

But captain Luke Graham, defenders Chris Carruthers, Stefan Stam, Joe Heath and Rod McDonald, midfielders Josh O’Keefe and Craig Jones, forward Marlon Jackson and keeper James Bittner will have to wait for offers.

Hereford were unable to pay player wages in March and are still seeking investment for April’s bill and beyond.

Manager Foyle said: “They are in limbo but they know the situation. They know that I will be in touch and I would like to keep them.”

Despite being strapped for cash, Hereford finished sixth in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

“I would certainly have accepted that at the start of the season,” Foyle said.

Keeper Dan Hanford, defensive duo Michael Townsend and Andy Gallinagh and midfield trio Simon Clist, James McQuilkin and Brian Smikle have been released.
