AN uncertain summer is in store for Hereford United as their financial worries mount.
The Bulls have still not paid their players in full for March, despite two home matches in three days to generate income, and are fast approaching pay-day for April.
With the season finishing at relegated Telford United today (5.15pm), there will be no more match-day revenue until August.
Chairman David Keyte has been in talks with potential investors but there is still no sign of any short-term cash injection.
The United chief said: “We are probably £4,000-5,000 short of clearing the wages.
“The April pay-day is not far away, we have the PAYE to settle on Monday and the VAT bill on May 7. It all has to be found.
“We have been talking to a couple of parties but there is nothing concrete to report yet. These things don’t happen overnight.
“We are very close with the one that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago and we have had some more interest recently.”
Keyte is also desperate not to cut manager Martin Foyle’s budget following a season that could see them finish sixth.
“Martin has done an exceptional job on the remains of a budget that he walked into,” the chairman said.
“He has proved that he can find young players, that is what we need and that is the sort of level we are going to be at.
“But you still have to square the books.”
