MANAGER Steve Burr says Kidderminster Harriers have never stopped believing they can win the Blue Square Bet Premier title.
Back in September with the club having failed to win any of their first 10 games, suggesting Harriers would be in the promotion picture looked a long shot.
But, after claiming a remarkable 73 points from a possible 84, today they host Stockport County (5.15pm) in their last match with a play-off spot already in the bag and still in with a shout at the title.
They need to beat the relegation-threatened Hatters and hope leaders Mansfield Town drop points at home to Wrexham.
“It is not where you start, it is where you finish,” said Burr. “We didn’t get off to the best of starts but in saying that we’ve given ourselves a chance to do something. If we can’t finish at the top, we’ll try and finish in the next best spot.
“While there is still a chance, you’ve got to believe and hope and that’s what we’ve done since we’ve been on this run.”
He added: “The lads have done fantastically well and it is a brilliant achievement when you consider the start we had. We didn’t see that coming but we dealt with it and got on with things.
“The support has been great home and away. It is nice to be in a position to really give the fans something to shout about.”
