WITH just hours to go before Kidderminster Harriers play their most important match since the turn of the century, they have been boosted by Steve Burr and Gary Whild committing their futures to the club.

The management team have signed new deals at Aggborough until the end of the 2015-16 season, extending their original agreements which were due to expire next summer.

Chairman Mark Serrell said: “Like our players, Steve is very ambitious and so am I. We’ve long had a belief that Steve and Gary are the right men to lead this club and we wanted to make sure we keep them for as long as we can.”

Everyone connected with the club will now hope the news can coincide with the pair leading Harriers to their first Conference title since 2000.

Harriers, currently second in the Blue Square Bet Premier, need to beat Stockport County at Aggborough tomorrow (5.15pm) and hope leaders Mansfield slip up at home to Wrexham.

Should the Stags draw, Harriers would need to beat Stockport by two clear goals in order to overhaul them on goal difference.

A win for Wrexham over Mansfield means Harriers can claim the title with any margin of victory but a Stags success takes the championship to the One Call Stadium no matter what happens.

Harriers also have to be wary of a Stockport side who need a win to stand any chance of avoiding relegation to Blue Square Bet North.

Manager Burr said: “We’re in the play-offs but my ambition is to win the title.”

Winger Danny Pilkington (groin) has returned to light training after missing the 2-1 win at Wrexham.
