MANAGER Carl Heeley felt Worcester City were deserving winners after they defeated Bishop’s Stortford 1-0.
Tom Thorley’s free-kick 17 minutes into the second-half decided the contest at Woodside Park which lifted City up to 13th in Blue Square Bet North.
It was the team’s third victory in four matches and Heeley thought it was a job well done against the Bishops in Hertfordshire.
He said: “I thought it was a good solid performance, we defended extremely well as a team and I thought Jacob Rowe was outstanding in the middle of the back four.
“He won every header and put his body on the line alongside Rob Elvins and then Stuart Whitehead when we made the change for Matt Breeze.
“It was very comfortable and I thought we could have got more goals at the end when we were catching them on the break.”
Of the goal, he added: “Tom has scored free-kicks for us since he’s been at the club. Last Saturday he hit a scorcher which hit the inside of the post against Hinckley and Tuesday’s was a wonderful strike.”
Worcester, however, saw midfield duo Matt Breeze and Matt Birley sustain respective groin and knee niggles in the match.
