CONDITIONAL jockey Josh Hamer was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance after a heavy fall at Wetherby.
Hamer was aboard the Tony Carroll-trained Arctic Wings, who was fatally injured, in the Yorkshire Post Ladies’ Evening - 30th May Handicap Hurdle.
The Richard's Castle jockey's mount, a nine-year-old bay gelding, fell at the fifth obstacle and Cropthorne trainer Carroll hopes Hamer’s injuries are not too serious.
He said: “He was a little bit dazed immediately after the fall but is fully conscious and knows exactly where he is.
“His arms and legs are moving fine but he does have some middle back pain and they are taking him to Leeds for some precautionary examinations.”
