MANAGER Steve Burr admits filling Danny Pilkington’s boots will be a challenge as Kidderminster Harriers bid to stay in the Blue Square Bet Premier title hunt.
The winger, who started in the recent victories against Lincoln City, Luton and Braintree, has been ruled out for up to three weeks with a hamstring injury.
That means, as well as today’s trip to Wrexham, he is set to miss next Saturday’s final league match against Stockport and potentially the play-off semi-finals.
Martin Devaney and Marvin Johnson are both in the frame to replace the former York man but Burr knows the timing of the injury is far from perfect. “It’s a shame because Danny’s been doing really well for us and that is a blow,” Burr said.
“He’s going to be a really big loss. He’s really hit form but it’s an opportunity for someone else to come in and take the baton from him.“ To secure automatic promotion, Harriers need to win at the Racecourse Ground today and beat Stockport next week and hope title rivals Mansfield, who are two points better off with a game in hand, falter.
Meanwhile, striker Nathan Blissett has been recalled from his loan at Cambridge United.
The 22-year-old, who joined the Us when Michael Gash made the switch to Aggborough last month, played seven games at Abbey Stadium, scoring twice.
