WORCESTER City boss Carl Heeley is adamant he won’t let his team fall into the trap of taking Hinckley United lightly tomorrow (3pm).

The relegated Knitters arrive at St George’s Lane just days after hammering fellow strugglers Corby Town 6-3 in only their second win of the season.

It was a result few predicted given the Leicestershire club’s record this term — they only have six points — but is a warning that City can’t expect a walk in the park.

Worcester seek consecutive home wins, following the 3-2 Easter Monday triumph against Oxford City, in their penultimate fixture at the 108-year-old ground.

Heeley said: “I went to watch Hinckley the other night and they have had a terrible season looking at the league table but scored six goals and could have had more.

“Without question, they have a goal threat. They are playing with absolutely no fear because they are relegated. They are relaxing and enjoying their football.

“Hinckley have a few players who will hurt us if we are not switched on so we have to heed that warning.

“It just goes to show if you take teams for granted what happens and Corby made that mistake.

“Based on what I have seen, I need to make sure our players don’t make the same mistake because it’s a game we should be looking to win.”

Although the fixture is the last at home before the visit of champions Chester on the final day of the campaign, Heeley is treating it as he would any other match.

“The only significant game is the last one against Chester and we will deal with that when it comes,” he said.

“Obviously, there are less and less games at St George’s Lane but, for us, it’s just about trying to win a match.”

There is good news on the injury front with centre-half Lee Ayres making a quicker-than-expected recovery from the Achilles problem he suffered in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Workington.

Captain Stuart Whitehead and fellow defender Jacob Rowe are improving following groin and knee injuries respectively and could be involved either tomorrow or at Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday.

Shabir Khan is struggling with an abdominal strain but the Pakistan international should be fit for at least one of the games.

However, left-back Ellis Deeney (ankle) and keeper Glyn Thompson (thigh) are still out.
