WITH just over a week of the regular season to go, Kidderminster Harriers’ title hopes have reached a critical stage.
They are two points behind leaders Mansfield Town with two games left but the Stags have an all-important game in hand.
By the time Harriers kick-off in tomorrow’s Premier Sports-televised match at Wrexham (5.15pm), Mansfield could have a five-point cushion as they visit Braintree at 3pm.
Equally, Steve Burr’s side could take on the Dragons with the chance to go top of the Blue Square Bet Premier should Mansfield slip up.
One thing, though, is certain and that is Harriers need to win, regardless of what happens in Essex, to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.
Manager Burr said: “With Mansfield’s advantage we need them to slip up for us to step in and try and take the title.
“Keep winning and putting the pressure on, that’s all we can do.”
Harriers, however, must tackle Wrexham without winger Danny Pilkington, who is set to be out for up to three weeks with a hamstring injury.
But midfielder Keith Briggs could be involved as the suspected broken hand he suffered in last Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Lincoln City was diagnosed as tendon damage.
If right-back Lee Vaughan can avoid a booking at Wrexham, he will have beaten the deadline for receiving a two-game ban for 10 yellow cards.
