HEREFORD United can make it four wins in a row tomorrow when they welcome struggling Gateshead to Edgar Street (3pm).
Despite financial woes behind the scenes, which saw the players not being fully paid in March, the team are in a rich vein of form.
Tuesday’s 1-0 derby victory at Forest Green Rovers was the first time the Bulls have won three league games on the spin this season.
It also lifted them to sixth in the table although any remote chance they had of closing the 10-point gap to Grimsby Town in the final play-off spot disappeared when the Mariners won at Dartford.
Manager Martin Foyle has been delighted with his players’ efforts but accepts a genuine play-off challenge was never really on the cards.
Foyle said: “People said we still had half-a-chance but I thought a while ago it was probably out of our reach even if we did have a run of wins which we have done.”
He added: “We’ve done great but realistically we are a long way off some of the big boys in this league.”
Hereford have no fresh injury concerns, meaning Foyle could name an unchanged team although centre-half Stefan Stam, rested for the Forest Green trip, is fit.
Despite hammering Luton Town 5-1 last Saturday, Gateshead are just a point above the relegation zone after losing 2-0 to Nuneaton on Tuesday.
