WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley has every faith Danny Edwards will play again after suffering a serious knee injury.
The 29-year-old left-back was carried off in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Corby Town and it has since been confirmed he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Edwards, who sustained cruciate ligament damage in his left knee earlier in his career, is due to have a scan to assess the extent of the injury but is facing surgery and a lengthy period of rehabilitation.
Shabir Khan returned this season following a similar injury which kept him out for the best part of two years.
Heeley said: “Danny has ruptured his ACL so it’s terrible news for him and for us as a club and we feel deeply sorry for him. It’s a very serious injury and a challenge to come back from.
“I would back Danny to come back from it. He’s had a cruciate injury in his left knee in the past so he’ll be able to draw on that experience. We will do everything we can as a club to give him help and support.”
