SARACENS have apologised for a glitch that was preventing Worcester Warriors’ fans from buying tickets to the two sides’ Aviva Premiership clash on Sunday, April 14.
It appears that Ticketmaster, who sell on the London-based club’s behalf, had wrongly been instructed to refuse Worcester fans tickets.
When we called the Saracens booking line, we were told they were not allowed to sell tickets to Worcester supporters.
The call-handler said: “As far as I am aware, I can only sell tickets to Saracens fans.
“Unfortunately, we are not allowed to sell tickets to Worcester fans for this game.”
Following this, your Worcester News contacted Saracens directly and they have apologised for the mistake and assured Warriors’ fans they will be able to book tickets for the match at Allianz Park.
Saracens spokesman Mike Hartwell said: “That is not what’s supposed to happen.
“The only restrictions we have with Ticketmaster is for our game against Ulster where their fans can’t buy tickets from us but are being given a different Ticketmaster number to call to make their bookings.
“A phone call has now been made to address the problem as something has obviously gone wrong somewhere.”
Steven Kitchener, landlord of the Saracens Head pub in Worcester, was trying to book 42 tickets for a coach-load of Warriors fans to make the trip down to Saracens’ new 10,000-seater Allianz Park stadium.
However, he was turned away by the Sarries ticket office when he revealed he was a Worcester supporter and subsequently had to make do with 30 tickets that were not all in one group as that was all that he could book from Worcester’s allocation.
But, having been alerted to the problem, Saracens have now vowed to refund the fan’s booking and provide him with the full number of tickets he was looking for.
Any other Worcester supporters who have been turned away are asked to contact the Saracens ticketline.
