IT is now approaching 15 months since Worcester Warriors secured an Aviva Premiership victory away from the home comforts of Sixways.
The wretched run was stretched to 14 consecutive league defeats with Saturday’s shambolic showing in the 26-6 loss to London Irish.
The Madejski Stadium has never been the happiest of hunting grounds for Worcester and they never looked like ending their barren streak during the latest visit to Reading.
However, Warriors boss Richard Hill insists the coaching staff are exploring every possible avenue in a bid to halt the club’s away-day hoodoo.
Over the remaining few weeks of the current campaign, Hill’s side face trips to Saracens’ all-new Allianz Park home as well as a final day engagement with relegation-haunted London Welsh.
Hill said: “Those who have watched the Warriors over the last few years have realised at home we are a completely different side. We have got to find the answer to that.
“We had a chat in the dressing room after the London Irish game to find out why we perform like we do away from home.
“I am sure we will see a different side next week at home, but we are all working very hard to find a solution to us playing away from Sixways.”
Hill went as far as offering an apology to the beleaguered Worcester fans who braved the snow and freezing conditions to make the trip to the Madejski Stadium.
The Sixways head coach added: “We have tried so many different things and approaches, but again it has not happened.
“I am sorry for the fans, we appreciate them coming to support us and we are working hard to crack it. The players are as disappointed as anybody about losing, we had targeted the Irish game to get an away win.”
Hill admitted it was a day of few positives, but added the second-half return of Semisi Taulava and Chris Jones from injury had been a boost.
“I was pleased they got some game-time,” he said. “They had 20-odd minutes under the belt and that was pleasing. I couldn’t find too many more positives.”
